Exercise Physiology

Our Exercise Physiologists:

Jamie Hart • Andrew Ronacher

What is Exercise Physiology?

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are minimum 4 year university qualified allied health professionals. AEPs specialise in managing ongoing health conditions by delivering safe and effective clinical exercise, lifestyle and behaviour modification programs for the prevention, management and treatment of a large array of chronic diseases, injuries, and general conditioning.

The research behind exercise as a contributor to positive health in most populations is overwhelmingly positive and is being more widely used than ever before.

The Toorak Club Exercise Physiologists will assess and rate your health. They will then prescribe exercise that is specifically tailored to your immediate wellbeing. Your functional movement assessment will include a cardiovascular fitness test, cholesterol, lactate, and glucose blood testing.

Following your assessment, our AEPs will begin to re-program your training mindset with the most up to date training methodology and knowledge.

Just like Personal Training, our AEPs are available to conduct 1 on 1 sessions, 2 on 1 sessions and small group sessions.

Rebates are available via Private Health Insurance and Medicare (with a referral from your GP).

Referrals can be made as part of chronic disease management plans (CDM), General Practitioner Management Plans (GPMP), Team Care Arrangements (TCAs) and are also referred to as part of the Department of Veterinary Affairs (DVA).

Medical Conditions EAP’s are able to help with (but not limited to) are:

  • Injury/Post-operative Rehabilitation
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Chronic Lower Back Pain
  • Injury Rehabilitation
  • Osteo & Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Aging
  • Depression
  • Anxiety & Stress
  • Musculoskeletal Pain
  • Pain Management

Senior Health – Move to Improve

We have many clients the age 50+ and we understand that the goals of these clients can differ from someone who is twenty something. We recognise a senior client may not want to climb a mountain or run a race (or maybe they do), as such we pay close attention to an individual’s goals and needs such as maintaining balance, weight training, bone density improvement, fighting off osteoporosis and weight issues.

Our trainers are committed to working closely with members and will address any concerns before or after each training session. There is no reason to feel intimidated or nervous at The Toorak Club as we will design a fitness program specific to each person.

Move to Improve is a conducted by one of our experienced Personal Trainers. This class is conducted three times per week at 10am on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays for an hour, designed specifically to suit older adults it creates a great low impact workout with a fun social component. These classes are available to members or casually.
